universe and you.

He was meant to betall- like a willow tree,
flexible in the stormy gales
but sturdy as a rock.
He was meant to be
honest- he would have inherited
my father’s sharp nose
and bordered on states of frank bluntness.
He was meant to be
gentle- like my mother,
kind like a lamb,
soothingly warm like a gentle campfire.
He was meant to be
great- like the men he was named after,
and the men who would carry his legacy on.
He was meant
to be
my brother,
meant to be,
but never was.
